Transportation Security Forum (Paris, February 2007):
Securing trade and travel

The first event presenting technologies and approaches designed for the security of the global transportation network goes live on Wednesday, 28 February and Thursday, 1 March, 2007

Milan, December 10th, 2006 – Wise Media S.p.A.
is proud to announce the creation of the Transportation Security Forum, a global symposium focusing on the security issues faced today by a strategic, essential and vulnerable industry of every country: transportation.

The Transportation Security Forum is endorsed by the European Commission and opens its doors in Paris for a two-day summit on Wednesday, February 28th, 2007. The international conference and exhibition will focus on how to secure the hubs of the global transportation network: airports, railroad stations, seaports and subway stations.

Every day millions of people move using air, sea and ground transportation systems, taking millions of bags with them. Furthermore, global trade transports huge quantities of goods through our seaports, airports and railroad stations. Tightening security requires that thousands of companies make a concerted effort to continuously improve their processes and develop, test and deploy state-of-the art technologies and solutions. Screening passengers and bags boarding commercial carriers as well as the goods moved by the international cargo system is the aim of both governments and the transportation industry, in order to meet the increasing demand for security in our changing world.

The first Transportation Security Forum will provide a snapshot of the regulations, legislation and best practices regarding hub security from around the world. The forum will also highlight the state-of-the-art technologies available today to improve the performance of front-end and back-end processes in the transportation industry.

“The Transportation Security Forum welcomes the key players involved in the implementation and operation of secure trade lanes and passenger routes”, says Sophie B. de la Giroday, President of Wise Media. “The event is an ideal meeting place for airport, seaport and railroad premise operations managers, executives and managers of cargo and passenger carrier companies, transportation authorities, safety and security bodies, and law enforcement officers mandated with transportation security and border control tasks.”

The Transportation Security Forum will run in parallel with the Registered Traveler Forum, the first global initiative designed to showcase the technologies and solutions available to provide expedited security screening of passengers at airports. The Registered Traveler Forum is endorsed by the European Commission. Please find more information at:
